Did you know alpaca fleece does not have the 'itch factor' that wool has and can be washed in shampoo? Did you know it is almost as warm as polar bear fleece? It is light weight and can be blended with silk,mohair,cashmere, angora or sheep wool.

Alpaca fleece is available here for purchase in a range of colours. The average price is $20 for skirted raw fleece (each fleece is around 1 kilogram or more so this is very good value).It costs around $20 to shear an alpaca so there is little profit in our fleece sales..Our profit is when we 'value add' and spin the fleece and knit garments. I recently handspun 1 kilogram of grey fleece which was knitted into a jumper for my husband. He's quite happy as an alpaca jumper in a shop may cost between $300 and $500. I can mail alpaca fleece for around $12 on average in postage in Australia for between one to four kilos in weight as a parcel, depending on location. I am happy to send samples of colours.
